Gender Journeys Day is a conference for healthcare providers, educators, and families in Hawai‘i on gender-affirming care for keiki. The goal of Gender Journeys Day is to educate participants and increase the understanding of gender-affirming care for keiki while building a community of local providers and support.

Gender Journeys Day has sessions specific to healthcare providers, educators, and families on gender-affirming care for gender diverse keiki. Gender diverse includes but is not limited to: transgender or trans, māhū, non-binary or enby, genderfluid, genderqueer, and agender identities, as well as those exploring their gender identities.

One of the aims of Gender Journeys Day is to cultivate a sense of community and connection through in-person interaction. To reduce barriers for those traveling from neighbor islands, participants can apply for travel grants. See “Travel” section below for details.

Yes! Families are encouraged to bring their gender diverse keiki and siblings. There will be separate youth programming for keiki ages 5 and up. Children under 5 must remain with their caregiver during the conference.

Admission to the conference includes continental breakfast and lunch, followed by a shave ice social at the conclusion of the sessions. Information on dietary restrictions and allergies will be collected at registration.

To increase accessibility to the conference for participants from neighbor islands, we offer travel grants for those who apply. The travel grant application is incorporated into the conference registration form.

The travel grant application is incorporated into the conference registration form, just make sure to respond Yes to the question: “If you are flying to O‘ahu for the event, are you interested in applying for a travel grant?”. Those who complete this portion of the registration form can email travel receipts to hello@genderjourneyshawaii.org once travel is completed. The last day to submit receipts is 7/13/25.

Roundtrip economy or coach airfare from one of the neighbor islands to O‘ahu.
Rideshare or taxi between the HNL airport to the conference location at JABSOM.
