Mahalo to everyone for a fantastic Gender Journeys Day event! On June 22, 2024 we held Hawai‘i’s first-ever daylong conference on gender-affirming care for keiki that brought together healthcare providers, educators, and families.
Conference Overview
The day opened with an oli followed by remarks by Kumu Hina and an introductory session on gender. Healthcare providers, educators, and families split into separate sessions with content specific to their track at the conference.
Sessions covered topics such as creating safe and inclusive spaces, addressing implicit biases about gender, and how to talk about gender with extended family.
At the end of the day, all three tracks came back together for a final session with the entire group, followed by a shave ice social.
